The EX30 is a lot of things, an eco-friendly luxury car, a small SUV that's perfect for negotiating city streets, and the quickest 0-60 roadgoing vehicle in Volvo history. That kind of versatility is rare, and that specific combination of features is previously unheard of. The EX90 is the new flagship for the soon-to-be all-electric lineup. A new three-row crossover that builds on everything that made the XC90 such an unprecedented success. Both come with all-wheel drive as standard, and a 111 kWh battery pack that allows for up to 308 miles of range. The EX40 might look a bit familiar, and there is a very good reason for that. It's based on the gasoline-powered XC40, but has a different name in order to keep it consistent with Volvo's EV naming convention. The base drivetrain offers nearly identical horsepower to the mild hybrid counterpart, but noticeably more torque, a trademark advantage of an EV. And selecting the twin-motor setup gives you a massive power advantage. Range is excellent, nearly the same as the large EX90, but the EX40 being much smaller means that it can achieve this with a smaller battery that requires only 8 hours of Level 2 charging for a 0 to 100 percent charge.
A different front fascia tells you that you're looking at the all-electric EX40, but there is otherwise very little to distinguish it from the standard XC40. That's a major selling point, since the XC40 has been a popular model since its introduction.

While the C40 Recharge is similar to the XC40 and uses the same drivetrains, Volvo has taken a different approach to the design, emphasizing style and performance for the C40 over the everyday grocery-getter styling of the XC40. And since the C40 is available with up to 402 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque, there is a lot of performance to emphasize. The sloping coupe-like design comes with a standard panoramic glass roof, and the fastback design gives it an aerodynamic design that improves efficiency enough to provide a few more miles of range over the otherwise mechanically identical XC40 Recharge.
