The XC40 marks the first model to be built on Volvo Cars' new Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform foundation. What's New for 2023

While 2023 didn't bring in an official new generation of the XC40, there are a number of changes. The first is that all of the trim levels have been changed around, with new names and different equipment packages. The exterior styling has been changed a bit, specifically the grille, headlights, and bumpers. The roof is also now body-colored. Both engine options now come with a mild hybrid system. This delivers improved fuel economy and a bit more horsepower from the base engine. Lastly, the infotainment operating system has been replaced with a built-in Google-powered OS similar to Android Auto. But for Apple users, there is still the option of Apple CarPlay.
