2025 Volvo XC90 vs. Cadillac XT6 Comparison with Price, Specs, & Photos

The Volvo XC90 is undeniably one of the all-time greats when it comes to family vehicles, with the automotive press heaping awards on it year after year. With its refined road manners and comfortable Scandinavian interior, it's easy to sell why it's so well loved. But the XC90 is hardly alone in its segment, as other luxury brands now offer three-row SUV models. The Cadillac XT6 is one of the more popular competitors, thanks to a relatively low starting price and the practicality of being a more reasonable size than the Escalade. But how does it compare to the XC90? We'll have to take a closer look to find out.

Our first comparison is to the Cadillac XT6, which comes with very similar interior dimensions to the XC90. The XT6 doesn't come with standard AWD, but even once we add it, the Cadillac has a bit of a price advantage. Of course, there is still the question of what that money actually gets you, and here the Cadillac falls well behind. The XC90 comes with more power, while simultaneously delivering superior fuel economy. In most cases, you get one or the other, so Volvo coming out ahead in both categories is noteworthy. The double wishbone front suspension in the XC90 also means much more precise handling, another factor in the superior driving dynamics of the Volvo. We should note that the towing capacity listed here is just for the base trim of the XT6. But moving up to a higher trim of the XT6 only raises towing capacity to 4,000 pounds, which is still lower than the XC90 and completely erases the Cadillac's price advantage.
In the area of standard equipment, we can once again see that the XT6 isn't such a bargain after all. Touchscreen size isn't a major factor in most cases, but the XT6 comes with an unusually small example, which looks outdated at best, especially for a luxury vehicle. Similarly, 18-inch wheels might have been in style for a vehicle of this size a couple of decades ago, but today, the 20-inch wheels on the XC90 are much more the look that you want. And although you can get integrated navigation and rain sensing wipers on the XT6, they're not even optional on the base trim. And no matter which trim you get of the XT6, you only get one routine maintenance visit to a dealership included in the price, while Volvo includes the first 3 years. In all, with what Cadillac charges to outfit your XT6 similarly to the XC90, there really isn't a price advantage at all.

Winner - Volvo XC90
A closer look shows that the XT6 doesn't quite measure up to the high bar that the XC90 sets. While the XT6 looks like a good deal at first glance, it quickly becomes apparent that the slight savings is more than outweighed by the lackluster performance, low level of standard equipment, and unimpressive practicality. The XC90 outperforms in every category, and it's easy to see why it's Volvo's flagship model. Let Motorcars Volvo Cars help you find your XC90.
